The School of Urban Rail Transportation is positioned as a first-level discipline in the field of transportation engineering, covering four second-level discipline areas: road and railway engineering, traffic information engineering and control, transportation planning and management, and vehicle utilization engineering. Taking the big traffic represented by the Yangtze River Delta as the engineering background, the School follows the development trend of modernization, intelligence and digitalization of traffic engineering, and gives full play to the features of the discipline in the field of traffic operation security. The School has set up several provincial and ministerial discipline platforms, including the Synergetic Innovation Center of Rail Transit Operation Safety Testing and Evaluation Services (Shanghai University Knowledge Service Platform), the Shanghai Research Center of Rail Transit Vibration and Noise Control Technology and Engineering (the first batch of engineering research centers of Shanghai Municipal Development and Reform Commission), etc.

Introduction

The discipline carries out basic theory and application technology   research on outstanding issues in operation such as rail vibration and noise,   deterioration of infrastructure’s service performance, etc., and has a   systematic theory and technology for engineering applications in the   direction of rail vibration and noise reduction technology, intelligent   monitoring and early warning of infrastructure structure service performance,   etc. In addition, the discipline has made important achievements in the   research on the dynamic mechanism and technological implementation of rail   vibration and noise reduction, the theory and technology of infrastructure   monitoring and control, etc.

In view of the features of high-density operation and   short-cycle maintenance of rail transit, the discipline, based on basic   theories such as reliability analysis, fault diagnosis and detection,   artificial intelligence and big data analysis and remaining life prediction,   plans to independently develop a batch of special testing equipment to   improve the innovative technology level of rail intelligent monitoring and   detection in our country, thus creating a complete set of intelligent   monitoring system and supporting technical services.

With the goal of ensuring the wisdom and safe operation of the rail   transit network, the discipline, based on the intersection and integration of   multiple disciplines such as transportation planning and management, data   science and big data application, safety engineering and behavioral   psychology, studies various theoretical methods and techniques of big data   mining of rail transit operation, intelligent passenger transport and traffic   management, human factor engineering of key posts and operation risk assessment   under networked conditions.

In accordance with   the major requirements for vehicle operation safety under complex service   conditions, the discipline focuses on the fault diagnosis theory and   technical research of key components integrated with multi-source information   sources such as vehicle vibration, machine vision, acoustics, energy   transformation, etc. In view of large discreteness of service life, fault   concealment, abruptness, diversity and complexity of key components, the   discipline carries out state data acquisition, feature analysis, real-time   intelligent monitoring technology and research and development of major   equipment.
